Hi, I'm Márcio.

I work in the dining room of a hotel restaurant, where I open, decant and serve wine for guests every night.

SommShelf exists because guests ask me the same questions every week: which corkscrew should I buy, do I need a decanter, which glass is worth it, how do I save an open bottle? This site is my answer, written the way I would explain it at the table.

With gratitude

SommShelf is dedicated to my wife, Michelle Rodrigues, and to our children, Miguel Rodrigues and Manuella Rodrigues. Every late night spent on this project is for them, and the best of it is because of them. Thank you for your patience, your love and for being my reason to keep going.

How I choose products

I recommend tools based on what works in real service: how reliably they perform, how easy they are for a non-professional, and whether they are worth the price. I never accept payment from brands to be included. If a cheaper option does the job, I say so.
